Sandy, I am excited to discover your blog by following a link from Carol Carmichael's. I love all your flower paintings. I too am a retired teacher, but I didn't start painting until after I retired. I am trying to loosen up my paintings as well. How large are the brushes you're using? I am guessing that the canvas sizes are fairly small; still I am so impressed by how quickly you are completing paintings! You put me to shame and motivate me to do better!
Thanks, Peg.... these are small gessobords, 6x6, 8x8, 8x10, and the brushes for this painting (actually I used the same one throughout) was a #8, which is pretty big. It's the new ones I really have begun using, called Titanium from Michaels.... they are so much more reasonable in price than the Winsor Newton's I used to use.
