Little blue vase #102

You would think that this little blue symmetrical vase would be simple, but try as I might to add foreground (vase) and background (muted turquoise) the shape inadvertently changes and becomes what almost surely seems impossible to rectify.....taking off my reading glasses helps to keep it enough out of focus that I can better get the 'gist' of the balanced symmetry of it... !   (Does that make any sense to you out there ? )  ha ha ha

  1. Sandy, it's lovely! You nailed the symmetry and the color changes work.

  3. Hi Sandy - It makes perfect sense to me (the other blue vase painter). I had a heck of a time painting that silly vase and didn't make any progress until I took off my glasses. I'm so glad to find your blog. I've admired your paintings on "Daily Paintworks," and now I'll be able to visit the source. I'm a year and a half away from retirement and am counting the minutes until I can devote most of my time to painting.

    This is a lovely painting!

  4. thanks, Sue... you will love being retired... I remember thinking I might get bored.... Now I can't realize how in the world I could have thought that ! My family just left 10 minutes ago... we had a brined turkey with homemade mashed potatoes, gravy, sauted green beans, 2 kinds of fresh made cranberry dishes, and a carrot cake with a new recipe calling for coconut flour and coconut oil.... work, but sooo nice to have the time to do it... I can sleep in tomorrow !-- playing with grandbabies is a special treat, to !!!
